Contact: who can answer what
Counselor Licensure Exam has no mailbox, form or phone number, and a study site could not settle exam business anyway. Registrations, scores and licenses belong to the organizations below; find your situation and go straight to them.
"I'm registering for the NCE or NCMHCE"
NBCC handles registration, testing accommodations, the NCC and CCMHC applications, and score questions. If you test for a license, check your state board's rules first: some boards approve you before you register, while Texas, and Florida for the NCMHCE, allow registration without prior approval. Pearson VUE books the seat, in a testing room or through OnVUE at home.
"My program gives the CPCE"
Start with your program's CPCE coordinator, who registers students for the exam and knows the score your program treats as a pass. CCE runs the exam, but the fee goes to Pearson VUE, not CCE, after the Authorization to Test reaches you.
"I need an approval code for the MFT exam"
Your state board approves you and issues the approval code, a 13-character code that is new for each application. New York and Texas candidates are the exception to the new-code-per-application rule. AMFTRB publishes the testing windows and rules, and you sit the exam at a Prometric center. California applicants deal with the Board of Behavioral Sciences instead.
"I'm applying for the CRC"
CRCC handles eligibility, the application, exam windows and renewal.
"It's about my license, hours or supervisor"
Only your state board can answer: approval to test, associate titles, supervised hours, the jurisprudence exam where there is one, and licensure by endorsement. Every board's site is linked from our state requirements page. For practicing in another member state under a Compact privilege, see the Counseling Compact page and your home board.
Reporting an error on this site
We cannot receive messages, so corrections come from the sources themselves:
- Facts with a known change date (Compact privilege dates, the January 2027 AMFTRB window, the July 2027 NBCC forms) carry their check date; after that date, trust the source over the row.
- Any table row carries its source number. If the source now says something different, the source is right.
- A practice question names the outline area it tests. If its key disagrees with the current outline or code, trust the outline or code.
